In America November 11th is known as Veterans Day. It was designed to honor all US veterans who served at any time and place. The day was originally Armistice Day and commentated the end of the First World War. The impact of the First World War on Europe especially should not be underestimated as nearly an entire generation of young men were annihilated in the ghastly trenches of that conflict. The UK still remembers November 11th as the end of that terrible conflict. Here is a repost from a blogger friend of an English poem that remembers the fallen. Very touching I think.
