I’m reblogging this because I’ve gotten to know the author through blogging. I’ve actually encouraged him to write a book. His grasp of history and research is second to none in his areas of expertise. With this post he starts a series that it is very personal because it’s about his grandfather, a man who would become just an ordinary soldier in the German Army during WW2. There is no glorification of war here. Just a grim reality of WW1 and WW2 and what it meant to an average German soldier. Thanks Rob for telling your story and the story of your grandfather.
Thank you Bruce
