Have you ever made a comparison that just does not work, you know, comparing apples to oranges? Well, the President uttered one last night. Romney was talking about the fact the US Navy was at its smallest since 1916. BO pipes up that we also have fewer horses and bayonets. I suppose he could have added we have fewer bows and arrows as well.
Pres. BO went on in a condescending way to imply that Romney doesn’t understand naval power by saying we have aircraft carriers that carry airplanes and submarines that go underwater, blah, blah, blah. It was Obama at his most arrogant and that’s saying something.
Personally I think Romney missed an opportunity to school Pres. BO regarding naval power but I guess you can’t be an expert on everything.

It was Ronald Reagan and his Secretary of the Navy John Lehman and Casper Weinberger, Secretary of Defense that the rebuilt and expanded the US Navy after horrendous cuts made to it in the wake of the Vietnam War. Reagan understood the value of Naval power and how naval power could project peace through strength.
Pres. BO went on, still in a condescending way, to say “it’s not a game of battleship” a possible reference to the arms race prior to the first war when Germany and Britain were building battleships. (Actually, I doubt Pres. BO even knows that or much else regarding history. It’s hard to find the time to study history when you are busy community organizing, doing dope, and hanging with Marxists.)
In any event, it was yet another silly comment because it is not a game of battleships (obsolete) but it is a game of Aircraft Carriers and the fleet ships that support a Carrier Battle Group. The US has eleven such groups and they are the major reason we can project peace through strength around the world and have the ability to react quickly to any crisis.
Our British friends once controlled the seas and were a great power. They no longer are and to the surprise of no one have a small Navy to prove it. Critics will say the British no longer have a vast empire to police and that’s why they have a small Navy. True enough, but that misses the larger point of who gets to be the world’s policeman?
Frankly, I do not enjoy the US in the role of world’s policeman. On the other hand who if not us will do it? Russia? The Chi-Coms? (The Chi-Coms have one Aircraft Carrier so far. Why do you suppose they are building them? I shudder to think what Pres. BO meant when he told Putin’s man, “I’ll have more flexibility in my second term. !!!!!!!!!!
